Please select your gender

Last week, a mid-size Australian company updated the job application form with an extra gender selection.

The company specialises in Accounting, Insolvency and Financial Planning.

It got me thinking... Do we really need to know what the gender of the candidate when they apply for a job?

Certainly for some roles it may be necessary and the employer should clarify the job advertisement with an exemption notice from the relevant authority.

But it dose open the possibility of discrimination towards the job seeker.
